Description

The menu for this hands on cooking class is inspired by the Northern Italian region of Veneto using fresh produce from the Barossa Farmers Market, local farm gates and our fish monger in Adelaide:

  • Baccalà Manteccato, salt cod & steamed potato pate served with crostini
  • Fresh pasta: Bigoli with anchovies, caramelised onion and parsley
  • Risotto: al Nero di Seppia with ragù di Calamari
  • Tiramisu

Participants of the Saturday class are invited to join Matteo at the nearby Barossa Farmers Market at 8am, the meeting point is at the information booth inside the market entrance. Matteo loves to give an introduction to the history of the market and our fantastic suppliers, you will then have time to wander the market and collect any produce to take home with you (if you are visiting in summer bring a cooler bag).

The class commences at 9am with Illy coffee, artisan teas & Mork hot chocolate, then it's in to the kitchen to prepare your long lunch.

Matteo’s philosophy is to teach recipes that can be easily replicated at home so you can prepare these wonderful dishes for your friends and family.

After the class you will be seated in the Enoteca to enjoy your 4 course lunch with a glass of hand selected European wine and then coffee to finish.

You don’t need to bring anything just wear comfy clothes and closed in shoes! If you would like to invite a friend to join you for the Italian Long Lunch at midday after the Taste of Italy class on Saturdays please advise at the time of booking, the cost is $85 per person and includes the 4 course lunch, a glass of wine and coffee.

20 November 2017 • A Taste of Italy: Veneto Long Lunch

What a GREAT way to spend 6 hours on a Saturday - 1hr at an amazing Farmers Market and 5hrs with a diverse bunch of people from all over Australia who came together as if they had known each other for years. Matteo, the maestro, made us all feel at ease with his easy going manner and obvious love of preparing and eating Italian food - quick & easy preparation/cooking with loads of chat and laughter followed by slow eating with a little wine and much talk. Although the savoury dishes were a little too salty for my palate, I really enjoyed the Veneto Long Lunch. I have made Tiramisu for dinner tonight and look forward to making my own pasta from now on. Thank you Matteo and Fiona. We will be back.
